Alfa30 and Fred thanks for the comments.

Fred it´s not software it´s hardware. I have a large sheet of black speaker cloth that I use to cover over background plants or props/clamps. I use small bits with a slit for the stems of very small plants.

The camera exposure latitude hides any joins and makes the blacks black. On dark plants if the background is not quite black then a quick tweek with "replace colour" on Photoshop sorts it out.
