We have gone through and removed quite a few of the missing sites from the webring as well as a few that didn't have their webring code up (and hadn't for quite some time). We still have quite a few issues to resolve at the webring and we're not sure how to best approach them. But stay tuned for the latest...

I have emailed quite a few sites in regards to their code and very few add the code to their site or remember to put it back on when they revamp their site.

So soon, we will be going through the sites and simply removing all sites not displaying the code. This may seem harsh to some, but it's the fairest thing for those actively supporting the DEW.

The latest Skinbase skinning competition is here and this one is free and easy! To enter the competition, you are required to create skins for PKMenu, PKVolume and/or SyncTime. All of these applications are Freeware and easy to skin. Make sure you download the latest version of PKMenu too. It has animations now!

This webring offers you more than most of the other webrings you've probably seen around the internet. You have the following options when you join the Desktop Enhancement Webring:

Easy Signup

  • To join the webring, you simply need to have a website dedicated to the art of desktop enhancement. What is desktop enhancement? Some examples of this artform include skinning, wallpaper creation, shell theme creation and any other similar art form. If you are the creator of a skinnable application or similar product, you are of course encouraged to join the webring.

The ability to now join the DEW mailinglist

  • If you'd like to be informed of when new members join the webring or if additions are made to the webring services, then you can now apply to join the Desktop Enhancement Webring Mailing List. You can of course opt out of the mailing list at any time by editing your profile in the members area.

Featured Packed Members area

  • This new members area offers more than the previous versions of the Desktop Enhancement Webring ever did. More reliable code, plus the ability to have more than one website under the one user ID. So if you have more than one website that relates to the art of desktop enhancement, you can now easily keep track of them all under the one log-in. You can also easily edit or delete any of your site details at any time. And if you lose your webring code, you can now get the correct code from your members page.
  • And as the new webring code is all written in PHP and uses cookies, once you have logged in to the members section, you can always remained logged in. So no more 'lost password' worries again. *


Statistics Page

  • You can easily check how your website is going in the 'hits' rankings as well as viewing the other member's websites in the order that they joined the webring.

And other improvements made to the ring include a new link in the webring code (created so visitors to your site can choose what site in the webring they'd like to visit by viewing a list of who is in the webring), new standard code design (much more attractive) and this new web design :)

*And if you do lose your password and/or clear your cookies, we have added the 'lost password' feature to the webring. All bases covered!
